The female condom is a polyurethane sheath with a length of 17 cm (6.7 inches). There is a flexible ring at each end. At the closed end of the sheath, a flexible ring is inserted into the vagina to secure the female condom in place. The other end of the sheath is left on the outside of the vulva at the entrance of the vagina. The ring acts as a guide during the puncture process and prevents the sheath from shifting during intercourse.
